I wasn’t able to properly re-create the materials for the sketchfab models, but the materials I was able to implement look similar enough. To cap off this Metal Sonic update post, I’ve now made both the high-poly render model and the in-game model available for viewing on Sketchfab. I also got the in-game model working in Sonic Generations, using the same textures, custom skeleton and idle animation as in Lost World (though I had to re-export the skeleton and animation since Generations uses an older version of Havok.) I also heavily adjusted the materials materials to look closer to their appearance in Lost World.

I’ve also “finalized” the in-game version of the model for Metal Sonic Lost World, along with its textures (diffuse maps, specular maps, normal maps) and materials.

Specifically, I improved the eye textures, fixed some smoothing/rigging problems, added in “normal” shadows, and made the ambient occlusion a bit more subtle (I also also stealthily updated the full-res version of the render on DeviantArt. To start things off, I’ve gone and made some fixes and adjustments to the high-poly Metal Sonic render I posted last Easter. Well, it’s the end of the month, and I’ve only NOW got some new-ish content to post. Now with Galacta Knight’s model done (and ready for importing into Smash 4, whenever non-Vertex edit model imports become possible anyway,) the next Brawl imports of mine that I plan to “update” are Dark Bowser, Masked Dedede, and Melee Ganondorf (in that order.) As seen in this new render, the first of them to be “finished” is, fittingly enough, Galacta Knight (who was the first model import I ever made for Brawl.)Ĭompared to the old Brawl version of the model import, the textures and numerous meshes were updated for consistency with Meta Knight’s Smash 4 appearance (including the addition of some new normal maps,) the wings were updated to being edits of Pit’s Smash 4 wings (much like how I edited Pit’s Brawl wings for the Brawl model import,) and I’ve made the shoes, shield, and lance less jagged.

Recently, I’ve gotten started on making on Smash 4 versions of my old Brawl model imports. In spite of all the focus I’ve been putting into Sonic mods, I haven’t forgotten about Smash modding.
